AC HIGH VOLTAGE TEST SET

AC HIGH VOLTAGE TEST SET

IBL" make High voltage testing sets are suitable for Power frequency AC high voltage test on transformers, motors, insulators, cables etc. The sets are capable of giving continuously variable AC HIGH VOLTAGE from zero to maximum rated output voltage.

Input: Generally, 230 Volts, 50Hz, single phase AC, upto 10KVA & 400/415V, two phase out of three
phases for sets beyond 10KVA.
However, we also manufacture AC H.V. sets workable on other input voltage at extra cost.

Output: Continuously variable from zero to maximum rated output voltage.

Capacity: Spread over a wide range of sets from 2.5KV to 300KV AC having capacities from several VA to hundreds of KVA.

Duty cycle: Intermittent i.e., 5 minutes ON, 10 minutes OFF. However, test sets of continuous or other duty cycles can also be manufactured at extra cost.

Metering: Analog voltmeter & milliammeter/ammeter. Digital meters may be provided at extra cost.

Protection: Tripping mechanism for protecting the H.V. transformer against over loading. The tripping mechanism can be adjusted at 25,50 & 100% of the rated current by a rotary switch. Below 100mA &
above 20mA two adjustable tripping ranges are at 50% &100%, while for sets of 20mA capacity or below only 100% is adjustable [If required by the users tripping current can be made adjustable at other values, at extra cost].
Apart from tripping mechanism, Zero start interlocking along with Overvoltage alarm & indication are provided.

Mode of operation: Sets are generally, motor operated beyond 20KVA & 50KV. Motorisation facility can be available below the specified value at extra cost.

H.V Transformer:
H.V.Transformer used for the testing purpose can be oil cooled indoor type or Resin cast dry type as found suitable or particularly required by the customer. The H.V. winding of the high voltage testing transformers is of graded insulation, one end of which is grounded through milliammeter and tripping device while the other end remains in floating condition as H.V. terminal. These testing transformers are specially designed to withstand frequent intermittent spark over or momentary short circuit conditions under which such testing
transformers are supposed to operate.

Discharge Rod: For device under tests having large capacitance, discharge rod may be provided at an extra cost.

Input: Generally, 230 Volts, 50Hz, single phase AC.
However, we also manufacture DC H.V. sets workable on other input voltage at extra cost.

Output: Continuously variable from zero to maximum rated output voltage.

Capacity: Spread over a wide range of sets from 1 KV to 300KV with current capacity upto 100mA.

Metering: Output DC high voltage measured by HV resistor chain along with micro-ammeter scaled in kV. Milli-ammeter to measure the leakage current.

Protection: Overload & short circuit provided. Zero start interlocking along with Overvoltage alarm & indication are provided.

Mode of operation: Generally, sets are manually operated. Motorisation facility can be available at extra cost.

Units: Generally DC high voltage test sets are available in one unit upto 35KV and sets of higher output voltage are commonly manufactured in two units i.e. the control unit & Transformer?Rectifier unit. This Transformer?Rectifier unit are made cascaded type above 80KV. However, IBL always welcome customers' choice regarding the no. of units.

Discharge rod: A discharge rod is provided with the set.
DC high voltage is generally obtained by simple rectification of AC high voltage or by multiplication of relatively low AC high voltage by proper multiplier circuits as is found suitable for a particular DC HV test set. HV transformers of the Test Sets are Cast Resin types.

Cable Fault Locator Bridge (Type-cflnt 02)

This Test Set is capable to locate Short circuit faults, High Resistance Earth faults that can be performed by H.V. D.C. source & Open circuit faults in all types of L.T. & H.T. armored underground cables (even P & T cables).

Features:

Detection by Null technique. Capable to overcome the effect of cable capacitance & foreign potential.

Isolated for High Voltage.

Power Source: External Power source of 12 volts DC nominal, capable to deliver 100mA current is supplied along with the locator.

For Short circuit fault detection: Current measurement 100mA with input Impedance selection in multiple ranges.

Output: 25 Volts to 2500 volts DC. Max.capacity - 50mA with built-in short circuit protection.

Additional (2): Surge Generator cum DC HV Test Set for Testing & Burning Faults (Type - SGNT14)

A part from providing output voltage for DC High Voltage testing, the surge generator cum DC HV test kit is designed to produce single as well as repetitive high-energy surges and can be used in conjunction with Cable Fault Locator.

Input: 220/240 volts, 50Hz, 1KVA, approx.

Output: Continuously variable from (i) 0 to 3.5KV DC, (ii) 0 - 7.0 kV DC & (iii) 0 - 14 kV DC.

Maximum Current: 150mA at 3.5 kV range, 80mA at 7.0 kV range & 50mA at 14 kV range.

Features:
Low input power.
Automatic discharge of internal capacitor and circuit under test if mains supply switched off.
Controls interlocked for complete safety.
A key operated safety switch prevents unauthorized operation of the model SGNT14.

Additional (3): Cable Fault Burner (Type -CFBNT)

To detect fault resistance higher than 10 Mega ohms CFBNT is suitable to burn down the faulty cable relatively to a low resistance fault.

Input : 230 volts, 50Hz, single phase AC.
Output : Continuously variable from 0 to 10KV.
Capacity : Burning current upto 50mA. Output is featured with drooping characteristic to have better
control on over burning.

Additional (2) or Additional (3) can be selected alternatively.

Additional (1), Additional (2) & Additional (3) are provided with-
Metering for output voltage & current measurement.
Overload tripping mechanism, Over voltage indication lamp & buzzer will be provided.
Zero start inter locking will be provided to ensure that the H.V. circuit cannot be energized unless the
regulator is first returned to zero position.

Additional (4): Thyristor Thumper (Type-NTTTH01)

Single or repetitive fault can be re-energized by a switch for a preset length of time usually 10 cycles. If the current crosses the highest current level before the completion of 10 cycles, the current injection is switched off to avoid unnecessary over burning of the cable under test. The set can also be operated in a single shot mode.

The Set is used to pin point faults particularly for low voltage cables.

Input: 230V, single phase, 50Hz., AC.
Output: 50Amps max.

Capacitance & Tan-Delta Measuring Equipment along with its accessories is suitable for testing motors,
Power Transformers, H.V. Bushings, Generators, Power Capacitors, cables etc. at power frequency. Periodic measurement of dissipation factor & capacitance on new solid insulators and those on long service period
produces comparative result about the trend of deterioration of insulation resistance before insulation
breakdown occurs.
Thus, the set is ideal to conduct routine diagnostic tests on solid insulating components, equipment
required for High Voltage generation, Transmission and Distribution.

The Set is in four units:
i. Capacitance & Tan-Delta Measurement Bridge
ii. High Voltage AC Power Supply Control Unit
iii. High Voltage AC Power Supply Transformer Unit

Standard test modes
1. UST - UNGROUNDED SPECIMEN TEST.
Reduces the effect of stray capacitance to ground. Maximum accuracy is obtained in this mode.
2. GST - GROUNDED SPECIMEN TEST.
Mostly used in outdoor installations, power systems when the object under test is permanently grounded. Exp. Windings of Transformer to tank and core, Coils of Rotating machine, circuit breaker assembly etc.

This Test Kit is used for non-destructive means of assessing the quality of high voltage transformers, motors, cables etc., which are used in generation & distribution of electric power.

The basic system consists of-

  • DISCHARGE MEASURING MODULE
    Input : 230volts, 50Hz., single phase AC.
    Measuring Range: 0 to 5,50,500,5000pC in different switchable ranges.
    Discharge pulses can be detected and measurement can be done in analog scale
    as well as in PC.
  • MATCHED MEASURING IMPEDANCE
    In series with standard capacitor this forms a voltage divider and decouples the high frequency signals to feed the discharge measuring module. The set is electro statically shielded.
  • Standard Capacitor: 100pf or 1000 pf.

AC Primary Current Injection Set is designed to carry out tests of circuit breakers, current transformers and many other applications where heavy current supply of short duration is required. During installation, especially if the protective gear is connected to the power line via a current transformer, the set can be used as a convenient means for delivering, controlling and measuring heavy current in a comparatively low voltage and low impedance circuit.

Input: 230volts, single phase, 50Hz. AC upto 10KVA. Above this range, generally, the power supply of the set is 415V (two phase out of three phase), 50Hz. AC

Output: Continuously variable output current is available either in one (1R) / two (2R)/three (3R) /four(4R) / five (5R) current setting mode (range) and one current output mode is available at a time.

Series: PCNTXRU; X denotes the current setting mode, either one (1R) /two (2R) /three (3R) /four (4R) /five (5R). U denotes no. of units i.e. either 1 (one) or 2(two) units.

Type: YYYAZZV; YYY denotes the maximum current capacity in Amp.
While, for YKAZZV; Y denotes the maximum current capacity in kAmp.
ZZ denotes the open circuit voltage rating.

We manufacture these sets in wide range upto 6KA and of various capacities. Sets of three phase current output are also manufactured upto a range mentioned before.
Sets above 2.5KVA are usually manufactured in two units namely,

(i) Control & measuring unit
(ii) Current loading unit.
For sets in one unit, variable voltage supplied to the current loading transformer are available at a pair of output terminals named as low current voltage terminals. A voltmeter is provided to measure the output voltage. But sets in two units do not have these provisions.
Loading transformers are air natural .The KVA rating of each output mode is same upto 3-range (3R).
In general all the equipment are designed for a standard duty cycle of 5 minutes ON and 10 minutes OFF.
Built-in type "Ntpl" digital time interval meter can be provided at extra cost.
Multi-ratio wound primary measuring CT with analog metering is provided. Digital ammeter can be provided at extra cost.
Protection against overload, short circuit provided.

"Ntpl" is also interested to supply current injection sets according to customers? requirements.

This is a portable DC Injection Set suitable to observe millivolt drop across low resistance elements, contacts, switches, D.C. motor commutator segments etc.

Input : 230 volts, 50Hz, 1Phase, AC upto 300A.
400/415 V, three phase, 4 wire, 50Hz. , AC above 300A.
Output : Continuously variable from zero to maximum rated current required.

Series: MVDTXPYYU;
X denotes single phase input (1) or three phase input (3);
YY denotes DR or OC i.e. either the transformer will be air-cooled or oil cooled type.
U denotes no. of units ? either one (1) or two (2).

Type: Y1Y1Y1AZZV;
Y1Y1Y1 denotes the maximum current capacity in Amp.
While, for Y1KAZZV; Y1 denotes the maximum current capacity in kAmp.
ZZ denotes the open circuit voltage rating.
We manufacture these sets in wide range up to 3KA and of various

capacities.

Transformer : Air-cooled upto 1000A. Oil cooled above 1000A upto 3000A.

Step down rectifier transformer with full wave rectifier bank consists of 4 nos. silicon diodes along with surge suppressor.

Protection against overload & short circuit is provided. ?Zero Start Interlock? protection is also incorporated.

Metering: Analog millivoltmeter, voltmeter & shunt operated ammeter. Digital meters can be provided at extra cost.

One set of probes to measure millivolt drop between two points of test sample is provided.

High Voltage Spark Tester is designed to check and test the quality of cables even at shop floor condition. So, this unit is fitted with castor wheels for easy movement.
The set consists of ?
i. High voltage source.
ii. One electrode arrangement.

Input: 230 volts, 50Hz, single phase AC.

Output(s):
High voltage source
Continuously variable high voltage source from 0 to maximum rated output voltage by smooth variation of autotransformer. Sets are available in different Types depending on the output voltage.

SPTNT-05 0 - 5KV at 50Hz. AC.
SPTNT-10 0 - 10KV at 50Hz. AC.
SPTNT-15 0 - 15KV at 50Hz. AC.

The high voltage source consists of:
Double Wound High Voltage Transformer having one end of the H.T. winding earthen
Zero-Start interlocking protection and short circuit protective device are provided.
Metering: Voltmeter is coupled to the primary of the transformer and scaled in kV according to the ratio of the transformer.

Electrode arrangement
The PVC coated cables made to pass through brass ball & chain, which are carrying high voltage. These balls are strongly supported by rugged chain within a protective cage equipped with safety switch. The cable under test enters and leaves the cage through smooth insulating supports for minimum friction. Since the inside conductor of the cable is earthen, if any pinhole comes, detecting circuit works instantaneously. Length of Electrode chamber is about 100 cm.

Fault Alarm: Audio Alarm is provided which acts when some fault passes through ball chain.

Fault counter: An electromagnetic counter is provided to count the fault.
AC High Voltage Spark Tester at High Frequency i.e. 2.5KHz. is also available.
