4. To verify the compatibility of two C-MOS ICS. C-MOS devices have extremely lower power consumption & thus they are widely used in calculation. Thus the working of C-MOS ICS is necessary to learn.

To demonstrate the operation of a 4-bit Arithmetic Logic units, and then to verity the truth table for all 16 logic functions and 16 arithmetic functions. This IC-74181 chip is one of the most complicated in the 74 series of digital ICS. (ALU is a 24 pin IC chip that has a complexity of 75 equivalent gates, It is perhaps the first large scale integrated circuit (LCI). You can perform (a) Arithmetic operations addition and subtraction of 4 bit binary words, (b) 5 logic functions (AND, OR, NAND, OR, EXCLUSIVE-NOR), (c) 4 combined Arithmetic/Logic operations (4-bit magnitude comparator, etc) This is a very important experiment to understand some of the basics of arithmetic functions and Logic functions of microprocessors. Switches are provided as Inputs. LEDs are provided as output to monitor the binary outputs. 7 segment display with decoder is also provided.
