MEDICAL ELECTRONICS. ECG DYNAMIC DEMONSTRATOR. MODEL IBL-ME-1

This trainer is an actual ECG instrument that is used in any diagnostics lab. This is a standalone instrument. This has all the features that a medical instrument should have, including safety systems.

This comes with DE-Fibrillatior protection. The ECG Leads can directly be connected to any volunteers for testing. If there are no volunteers, then an OPTIONAL simulator Model ME-3 instrument can be used in place of the volunteer. (Description of ECG simulator will be provided). There is a Built-in
Thermal strip chart recorder, which can be used as a hardcopy for record purpose. If enough diagnostic capabilities are available at your end, then this hardcopy can also be used for analysis purpose. This aspect provides scope better understanding for the student. Calibration facilities are provided for the thermal recorder to display the standard heights. The stylus position can also be set at a desired position.

A stand-alone battery is provided which can be used, when main?s power fails. An auxiliary output is provided on a terminal. You can connect this terminal to a storage oscilloscope for viewing, while the test in progress. The entire ECG scheme is displayed on the front panel, in the form of a block diagram, with suitable legends. Test points for all the constituent blocks are provided on the front panel for making measurements at all the stages of the electronics.

The following are the test points (TP):

Output of the first instrumentation amplifier which comes after WILSON network
Output of the DC Amplifier
Output of the TWIN-T notch filter and input of the final amplifier
Output of the final amplifier and input of the galvanometer
Output of the gain selector
Output of the final amplifier and input of the galvanometer
Output of the Stylus position control and so-on
Output of temperature control

NOTE: Connect this instrument to a power outlet, which has proper and good earth connections. This is very important requirement, otherwise it may be fatal.

We recommend ECG PATIENT simulator Model ME-3 for providing different waveforms for the ECG machine.

ECG DYNAMIC DEMONSTRATOR MODULE. MODEL IBL-ME-2

This instrument is intended for bio-medical engineering students. Using this instrument, various, The Electro-Cardiogram demonstration module consist of foursections, all contained in a single cabinet. Transducer section, signal conditioner section, followed by an instrumentation amplifier section, PC interface and a built-in power supply section. The output of this instrumentation section is given to 1. An oscilloscope or 2. An optional A to D converter module that will be finally given to any microprocessor or based system. The microprocessor-based system could be any IBM PC compatible system. The IBM compatible system so used requires an optional I/O interface hardware, IBR-1. Software for PC includes display of cardiogram waveform on computer screen. There is no analysis capability.

NOTE: Connect this instrument to a power outlet, which has proper and good earth connections. This is very important requirement, otherwise it may be fatal.

ECG PATIENT SIMULATOR. MODEL IBL-ME-3

Patient simulator is an electronic instrument. This provides 6 different standard waveforms required to simulate the presence of an actual patient. This instrument also provides scope for calibrating the ECG machine. Normally in a laboratory study environment, it is too cumbersome to make a volunteer to lie on a bed and connect the necessary leads and clean after the experiment. Hence this acts as an alternate source of waveform for ECG machine. The patterns produced by this are not ideal waveforms of an ailing patient. It is an ideal waveform only.

BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENT DEMONSTRATOR. MODEL IBL-ME-4

BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENT DEMONSTRATOR. MODEL IBL-ME-4

What is a blood pressure measurement?
Blood pressure is measured by inflating a cuff placed around the arm. Most people have had their blood pressure taken at some time or other. It is a simple and painless examination that gives a lot of useful information about the heart and the condition of the blood vessels.

What is measured?
The doctor measures the maximum pressure (systolic) and the lowest pressure (diastolic) made by the beating of the heart. The systolic pressure is the maximum pressure in an artery (which carries blood from the heart) at the moment when the heart is beating and pumping blood through the body. The diastolic pressure is the lowest pressure in an artery in the moments between beats when the heart is resting. Both the systolic and diastolic pressure measurements are important. The systolic pressure is measured when the doctor first hears the pulse. This sound will slowly become more distant and finally disappear. The diastolic pressure is measured from the moment the doctor is unable to hear the sound of the pulse. The blood pressure is measured in terms of millimeters of mercury (mmHg).

The trainer consists of a capacitive pressure sensor for measurement, and it follows oscillometric method. It offers a new feature that enables accurate tilt measurements of the user?s arm relative to the body, so that the arm is correctly positioned at the height of the patient?s heart.

This dynamic demonstrator is intended to study the basic fundamental building blocks required for measurement of blood pressure and heart rate. This demonstrator has several test points for measurement during experimentation process. All the building blocks are described on the front panel of the instrument.

Specifications:

  • Measurement method: Oscillometric
  • Display: Liquid Crystal Display
  • Measurement range: Pressure ? 0 to 280mmHg
  • Pulse- 40 to 200 beats/minute
  • Pressure detection: Capacitive pressure sensor
  • Inflation: Automatic Pressure application by Pump
  • Deflection and rapid air release: Automatic Pressure release valve
  • Power: This has built in power supplies and uses 230V AC @ 50Hz for powering.
