In the carriage a locking arrangement is provided to arrest coarse motion when fine motion screw is used. By successively locking and unlocking, motion in the total traverse can be provided by the slow motion screw. Two holes are provided with clamping screws to hold the microscope in either vertical or horizontal plane. It has a built in light-reflecting unit and within the lightweight aluminum cast body the Newton’s rings apparatus can be placed. The motion to the microscope is given by a micrometer screw of traverse 10mm and least count 0.01mm.
