SAWTOOTH GENERATOR (OP-AMP BASED)

Objectives of this experiment:
To demonstrate the operation of circuit, which can produce linear ramps. Linear ramp is produced by charging a capacitor from a constant voltage source. The linearity is limited to a small charge curve portion which is produced by charging a capacitor from a constant current source. The Ramp has better linearity. This experiment demonstrates both methods of forming a ramp.

Built in regulated Power supply: + 15V/300mA
Input Supply: 230 VAC/50Hz mains operated.
Dimension: 27cms x 17cms x 10cms.

Van de Graaf Generator, Large (LSE)

Create your own lightning with these time-tested devices that have delighted students for decades! Named after the inventer Van de Graaf, an American physicist, this machine produces low-amperage static electricity that can be “shocking” but perfectly safe. Two different pulleys inside a plastic column create and carry static charge up to the polished alumimun collector globe. You can draw out this static charge in a burst of lightning - or you can set each hair on your head on end! Our instruction booklet tells you how to raise hair; produce lightning and electric wind; experiment with St. Elmo’s fire or electrostatic attraction and repulsion.

10-085/10-086 and 10-285/10-286 have a negatively charged collector.
10-089 has a positively charged collector and is not returnable. NOTE: Positively charged collector may charge more slowly and have shorter sparks than the negatively charged unit.
Specifications:
• Up to a spectacular 400,000 volt potential for 10-085/10-086 and 500,000 volt potential for 10-285/10-286.
• 320mm (10-085/10-086) or 440mm (10-285/10-286) diameter stainless steel collector (0.7mm thick), highly polished with a mirror-like finish to maximize static potential
• Sparks up to 10”
• 3”diameter shock-resistant transparent butyrate column
• On/off switch with grounding jack for available discharge wand
• Square plastic base with black finish helps keep charge on the collector
• Redesigned brush assembly rarely needs adjustment
• Operable in humidities up to 90%
• Spare belt included
• Designed for educational use about static electricity, including hair raising and Van de Graaf accessories listed at right.
For 220 volt operation (export use only), order 10-086 or 10-286
Note: Unit may vary in appearance from picture.
