INTRODUCTION :-
An apparatus for determining losses due to friction in pipes of 15, 20 & 25mm. Dia. approx. Consisting of collecting Tank, storage Tank, pump (0.5HP) Control Valves, pressure tapping, Piezometer Board, Stop Clock etc.
BASIC SET UP - :
1. STORAGE TANK
Made out of fibreglass for corrosion prevention, suitably mounted on a sturdy frame support. Size : 100cm. x 70cm. x 23cm. (approx.)
2. COLLECTING TANK
Made out fiber glass for corrosion tank. Size of the collecting Tank is 55cm. x 45cm. x 40cm. Capacity approx. 60 liters, fitted with drain valve 1? size piezomenter Tube with calibrated liters Marking scale.
3. MONOBLOCK PUMP
Monoblock, 1 ph, 1/2HP Pump shall be provided with the set-up which shall be mounted on the base plate. Necessary piping with by ? pass valve & suction piping are provided. The connection for the test equipment is made by flexible Hose pipe.
SPECIFICATIONS
1) Three pipes : 50mm, 40mm & 25mm nominal diameters approximately connected in a common manifold.
2) Pressure tappings at 2.5 m distance.
3) Supporting stand structure for the equipment.
4) Measuring tank of 100 capacity with drain valve & gauge glass.
5) Differential manometer of 1m length without mercury.
RANGE OF EXPERIMENTS :
1) To determine coefficient of friction for pipes.
2) To plot relation between pressure loss & flow rates for a particular pipe diameter.
SERVICE REQUIRED :
1) Water supply arrangement.
2) Suitable drainage arrangement.
3) Mercury manometer of 0.5 kg approx.
4) Floor space : 4.5 x 1m.
