| For determination of coefficient of absolute expansion of mercury. Modified form. Consists of columns surrounded by a glass jacket approx. 460x25mm closed by rubber bungs & fitted with inlet & outlet tubes for steam & cold water respectively. The lower ends of the tubes are bent & are connected horizontally. The upper open ends of the vertical limbs are bent so as to be placed side by side against a silvered glass scale 0-12cm figured every 2cm. The whole apparatus is mounted on a wooden stand by means of spring clips. All the glass parts are easily removable. |
