INCLINED PLANE, FOR STUDY OF FRICTION, NEW TYPE
(0690) |
For exploring the concept of friction in a body moving on inclined surface and to show the dependence of friction on the mass of moving body and coefficient of friction. The apparatus comprises a rectangular metal frame with provision for mounting different surfaces with a ball-bearing pulley mounted at one end. Also incorporates a 0-900 protractor and plumb-bob arrangement for reading the angle of inclination, and a projecting rod on the opposite side for mounting the inclined plane on suitable retort stand clamp, whereby angle of inclination can be adjusted. Also includes three interchangeable surfaces - plastic, metal and soft cushioned, having considerably different coefficients of friction; and three carriages of identical mass having provision at the top for loading with additional masses. Carriages are stackable on top of one another. Dimensions of friction surfaces about 800 x 80mm. |
