Wildco Hester-Dendy

This inexpensive, compact and lightweight device has become a staple in the field and is similar in function to the periphyton. The most adaptable artificial substrate sampler on the market, it’s EPA recommended in 2 versions. Suspend it, float it or attach it to submerged objects such as boulders or stakes. Leave it in place for 2 or more weeks, then scrape the “critters” off the plates and analyze in the lab. Rubber tubing allows for swelling of the plates when they absorb water. Constructed of 1/8” (3 mm) thick tempered masonite for longer field life, with nylon spacers and SS hardware. We provide a wingnut at the bottom for easy disassembly.

New! Here’s a new, larger square multi-plate sampler that’s been well-researched in the field. Its 14 square plates are separated by 24 round spacers - 8 single, 1 double, 2 triple, 2 quadruple. Generally 5 are used together, tied to a weight to prevent contact with natural substrates. Meets EPA specs!
