Genetic Dice Kit (LSE)
| Simulate the color of pea plants in Gregor Mendel's garden to investigate recessive genes. |
An Austrian monk named Gregor Mendel was watching his garden grow in the mid-1800s. He became intrigued by diffences in traits of his pea plants, such as shapes of pods, color of the peas, color of the pods and heights of the plants. Some traits seemed to occur more frequently in the ten years he observed his plants. His discovery can be called the "Law of Independent Assortment" - the nature of dominant and recessive genes.

Which half is a chance occurrence and had lead to all the diversity we can see around us. Teaching Compass (LSE)
Let your students see the demonstration out in the field!
This gigantic compass demontrator is designed to be used in an instructional setting indoors or outdoors. The compass is non-functioning, but allows the teacher to show a large orienteering class the appropriate settings and procedures for their individual compasses.
Graduated 0 to 360 degrees (Azimuth) in 2 degree units, it has a movable bezel and a movable needle. It includes inch and cm scales and directional arrows. The Teaching Compass measures 9 inches by 15 inches.

It is used to measure percent (%) salinity. The refractometer has the following specifications:

Kick up the stream bed in the area marked out. When you know how many “critters” can be found in an area - you can extrapolate for the length of the stream. |

It?s not exactly a glass-bottomed boat, but it functions in much the same way. Our sturdy rubber pail has a transparent bottom which allows you to see what?s on the bottom of your pond or stream. Leak-proof, although you might get even better visibility if, as with a snorkel mask, you put a small amount of water inside. A exclusive!
