'HELlOS' PLANETARIUM (0679)
A working model of the planetary system, which combined with a 'Star dome' makes an efficient, graphic and versatile aid for teaching basic astronomy. It comprises a circular base with a series of concentric rings for the model planets which revolve around the central Sun at their 'HELlOS' PLANETARIUM correct relative speeds, the Moon revolving around the Earth. Around the upper edge of the base is a calendar and a degree scale for setting the planetary positions. In addition, a zodiacal calendar is provided. The planets from Mercury to Saturn, can be positioned for any year and month by means of the degree scale on the rim of the base. The star domes [the one from the northern hemisphere is supplied with the planetarium] illustrate the position of stars and constellations, lines of right ascension and declination, the ecliptic and celestial equator. Supplied with teaching manual covering history, the Sun, planets, comets and space exploration as well as useful tips for demonstration. Complete with all accessories, and a 240V mains power unit, fitted with double insulation and thermal cut-out for overload protection, but without batteries. See Enlarge

RADIANT HEAT SOURCE, MAINS OPERATED (0685)
A ruggedly designed unit that provides and alternative to the open element type cylindrical radiant heat source commonly used. Designed specially for safety of the user, it provides high degree of safety as compared to the other one and provides effective operational use in the experiments. The unit incorporates a fully enclosed steel case, which is earthed via the mains lead and also includes an input socket for the mains lead along with indicator type ON/OFF switch. The complete unit is mounted on a broad insulated base-board with nonskid rubber feet to avoid its accidentally tipping off. The heated radiant surface has a grille at the front to prevent its accidental contact with any other object or with the user. Provided with a handle at the rear for convenience in carrying, Its special unidirectional design minimizes heat radiation in undesirable directions and provides output in the required direction only. Operates on 220-240V AC, 50/60Hz, unit rated at 300W. Supplied complete with detachable 3-core mains lead. See Enlarge
