INCLINED PLANE, FOR STUDY OF FRICTION, NEW TYPE (0690)
For exploring the concept of friction in a body moving on inclined surface and to show the dependence of friction on the mass of moving body and coefficient of friction. The apparatus comprises a rectangular metal frame with provision for mounting different surfaces with a ball-bearing pulley mounted at one end. Also incorporates a 0-900 protractor and plumb-bob arrangement for reading the angle of inclination, and a projecting rod on the opposite side for mounting the inclined plane on suitable retort stand clamp, whereby angle of inclination can be adjusted. Also includes three interchangeable surfaces - plastic, metal and soft cushioned, having considerably different coefficients of friction; and three carriages of identical mass having provision at the top for loading with additional masses. Carriages are stackable on top of one another. Dimensions of friction surfaces about 800 x 80mm. See Enlarge

THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY BARS (0691)
Ideal for comparison of thermal conductivity of different metals quickly and conveniently. Unique, new conductivity bar set features convenient liquid crystal indicators mounted in robust holders. Comprises four identical metal bars of same shape and size, each of different metal - copper, aluminium, brass and steel, held firmly parallel to one another in a rigid moulded carrier with a hole for convenient suspension. Conductivity value of each bar is clearly marked on the back of the support. The sensitive liquid crystal temperature indicators working in low temperature range, are attached to the front of all the four metal bars. The temperatura indicators are marked at 1 cm interval to facilitate charting the movement of temperature gradients. The rate of heat flow is indicated by timing the colour change across these markers. The demonstration requires only a beaker or container of hot water, thus doing away with open flames, hotplates, or messy "melting wax" method of comparison. Within seconds of placing the ends of the bars in hot water, a visible "heat pulse" travels to the copper bar; the steel bar takes several minutes to conduct the heat to its upper end. Timing the "heat pulses" enables estimation of the relative conductivities and their comparison with the stated the, oretical values. Also demonstrates the conduction of heat from a heated bar to its end, if cooled. See Enlarge

WEATHER STATION (0692)
A complete maintenance-free weather station intended for outdoor use, with all instruments' mounted inside a specially designed lightweight plastic shelter in beautiful pastel colours. A special plastic plate carries the necessary instruments that can be taken out or mounted inside as desired. When mounted inside, the instruments are well protected from direct sun-light, wind-storms, rains or other negative weathering effects. The plastic plate instrument panel carries a barometer for pressure and weather conditions, hygrometer for relative humidity and mercury type maximum-minimum thermometer for temperature variations. The shelter also houses a rain gauge on one side with openiflg at the top covered with a lid. The walls of shelter provide unhindered air movement for proper measurement of weather parameters. Comes with a wind vane mounted at
its top for wind-direction indication. See Enlarge

AIR COMPRESSION FIRE GENERATOR (0695)
This device is used to illustrate that pressure and temperature are related. When you press down quickly on the plunger, air is compressed inside the tube, igniting a cotton ball. The fire then instantly goes out, because all of the oxygen in the tube is exhausted. Can be used to illustrate the kindling point of a material. Built of rugged plastic, the chamber comes apart for easy cleaning. See Enlarge

NEWTONIAN DEMONSTRATOR OR COLLISION BALLS (0701)
Dramatically illustrates Newton's third law of motion and works well on an overhead projector. The visual demonstration helps students understand concepts such as collision between equal mass bodies, exchange velocities. kinetic energy and momentum etc. Its graphical demonstration of elastic collisions qualitatively, is far superior to any other device on account of its size and total absence of friction. The unit is completely assembled and consists of a frame with five plated steel balls of about 19mm diameter. suspended on the frame through lightweight cord. By pulling and releasing the different number of balls. collision results among the balls can be observed to draw many interpretations. See Enlarge
